”Sorry to say this, but we’ve had such a lovely time, we’re staying on and refusing to leave; the next guests will have to live in the barn. Joke, but Drovers Retreat has literally been (to quote my sister) “a haven in the storm” away from the constant fireworks back home in the Midlands. Our dogs are happy, so we’re happy.
Bob and Carolyn are amazing, caring hosts. nothing is too much trouble and they are attentive, but never intrusive.
Drovers Retreat is warm, cosy and welcoming, with lots of caring touches. Not many guest places have a bath nowadays, so it was a real treat for aching bones - plenty of hot water too.

”Drovers Retreat is a wonderful destination, far from the madding crowd. Bob and Carolyn were kindness itself and made us very welcome. We loved the log burner and felt warm and cozy throughout.
The weather, on the whole, was kind to us. We had one glorious hike on Offa’s Dyke, where we enjoyed the magnificent views and a number of skylarks! Mostly we just relaxed, enjoying travelling to other walks and eating places. We loved The Harp (at Old Radnor), but other pubs were good too.

The games barn is nice but due to spending far too much time walking and being pooped in the evening. Vast swathes of forest accessible right from the doorstep (although remember to get the gate lock code from the house manual). Lovely small fenced area to the rear of the barn where you can sit and eat outdoors with literally just the stream, birds and rustling of the trees for company. A great place to really get away from it all.”

Every design, furnishing and product is carefully considered for its environmental impact. Such a beautiful retreat with plenty to entertain. We were surrounded by beautiful scenery in every direction and woodland walks from the front door, but our highlight was siting in the stillness of the private courtyard surrounded by woodland , listening to birdsong and watching the bees buzzing around the foxgloves.
